Tribute to Aretha Franklin
The Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts is producing a tribute to Aretha Franklin and they have assembled a super band of performers including guest singers and musicians. Below are some of the fantastic artists that will be participating in the very first Detroit Music Weekend. The Super Celebrity Vocalist will be performing with the DMW Super Band for the special tribute.

Tasha Page-Lockhart
American Christian R&B and urban contemporary gospel artist and musician. Page-Lockhart won the gospel singing competition, Sunday Best, that airs on BET, during season six. She started her music career, in 2014, with the release of Here Right Now by RCA Records and Fo Yo Soul Recordings. She saw her first studio album, Here Right Now, chart on two Billboard charts The Billboard 200 and the Top Gospel Albums.
Twinkie Clark
A gifted musician, anointed vocalist, and a true worshipper; these are all accurate descriptions of Elbernita Twinkie Clark; the woman considered the heart and soul of the Clark Sisters. With the reverence of a vast array of audiences, critics and peers, she is considered by many Gospel aficionados to not only be Gospel music’s greatest, but also the undisputed Queen of the B3 Hammond organ.
Mitch Ryder
From Hamtramck to the world, Mitch Ryder’s turbo high-octane sound has created a deep groove and inspired countless other legends including Bob Seger, John Mellencamp, and Bruce Springsteen. Currently blazing a trail through Europe yet again, Mitch and the band return to Detroit with their unmatched style of pure visceral rockin’ R&B.
LJ Reynolds
Although L.J. Reynolds is best known for his robust lead vocals on such classics by the Dramatics as “Fell for You,” “Be My Girl,” “Can’t Get Over You,” “Door to My Heart,” “Me and Mrs. Jones,” and “Shake It Well,” the Saginaw, Michigan native also has made a number of distinguished recordings as a solo artist, the latest being Love Is About to Start on Volt Records.
Vickie Winans
On the path to gospel superstardom, Winans released one hit after another. Decades later, Vickie Winans is not only known as an award-winning gospel recording artist, but she's revered as a consummate business woman that heads up Viviane, Inc. where she manages herself and books hundreds of shows per year. She is also the President of her own record label, Destiny Joy Records. A producer, director, songwriter, actress and comedienne as well, Winans does everything in excellence.
Karen Clark Sheard
Karen is an American gospel four-time Grammy Award winning singer, musician, and songwriter. The youngest daughter of pioneering gospel choral director Mattie Moss Clark, Sheard began her career as a member of the Grammy-Award winning, gospel legendary female group, The Clark Sisters. Sheard rose to fame after she recorded her critically acclaimed and much anticipated solo album Finally Karen.
Angela Davis
Angela Davis is an accomplished R&B / Soul artist who sings with the grace of Jill Scott and the flair of Jennifer Hudson. Audiences everywhere are inspired by her exceptional vocal skills and her wonderful stage presence. Angela Davis is an artist who entertains audiences with impeccable vocal quality and marvelous personal charm. Watch her as she continues to sparkle on stage and online.
Kiko Hardison
Kiko is the lead singer for the Larry Lee and the Back in the Day Band" and a national tour singer for K'Jon. She has opened for Charlie Wilson and performed in the stage play, "My Brother Marvin", about the life of Marvin Gaye. Kiko was nominated for the DBMA "Female R&B Vocalist of the Year" for 2013.
Kimmie Horne
Kimmie Horne has the lucid phrasing of Dinah Washington; the passion of Sarah Vaughn; and the smoky sophistication of Phyllis Hyman. She is both an outstanding vocalist and enchanting performer who take’s audiences on journeys from jazz to pop to R&B. Kimmie’s talents have elevated her to headliner status at the the Epicure Festival in Ontario and at elegant clubs in Chicago, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, San Francisco, Toronto, Jamaica, London, Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
Gwen Foxx
Gwen is the former vocal director and background singer for Mary J. Blige's "Share My World Tour" and has performed for music greats like Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, KEM, Marion Meadows, and Brian McKnight. She is a DBMA award winner and considered to be one of Detroit's most renowned vocalists.
Alise King
ALISE KING’S STRONG but SMOOTH voice will leave you wanting to hear more! She will make you dance, fall in love and cry just from her beautiful delivery of song, and with her signature GROWL she continues to WOW her audiences and fans. Alise has developed a huge following and fan base of people who love her humble spirit and ability to give one heck of a live performance.
Stephanie Christi'an
Steffanie Christi’an is a rock maven with magnificent presence. Take some Tina Turner, add a dash of Rage Against the Machine, along with a sprinkling of Alanis Morissette, and you have the perfect combination of Rock and Roll and Motown personified by Steff Chris. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Steffanie is a natural born singer who was blessed to begin performing at local events around the city while she was a young child.
