The Jacksons, Jeff Daniels, Mark Farner to headline second Detroit Music Weekend

The surviving Jackson 5 brothers will present the ABC’s of their storied career at the second Detroit Music Weekend, taking place June 14-17 in the cultural area in and around the Music Hall Center and Detroit Opera House.

The event is the follow-up to last year’s inaugural Detroit Music Weekend, which honored Aretha Franklin and included what is to date her final performance in the metro area.

The Jacksons -- Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and Jackie, playing both group favorites and the late Michael Jackson’s solo hits -- will headline a nine-hour festival on June 16 that will feature more than 400 performers on five stages, including former Grand Funk Railroad frontman Mark Farner, singer/songwriter/actor Jeff Daniels, the Craig Brown Band, Will Sessions and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. The day will also feature what organizers promise will be “the largest one-day exhibit of Detroit merchandise,” including food, apparel and crafts.

More performers and events for the other three days will be announced in the coming weeks.
